A while back I bought 2 dressers at a garage sale. One dresser I turned into an Entertainment Center for our living room. The second dresser I refinished. Can you believe I scored this dresser for $5!!? It’s solid wood with dovetail drawers.
I sanded it down. Then the body of the dresser was painted in “Natural Tan” satin latex and the drawer fronts and the top were stained with “Espresso” stain. I also stenciled a design on the top using the “Natural Tan” paint, and then I sanded the stenciled part very slightly with either 220 or 600 grit sandpaper; I’m sorry but I don’t remember which grit, just that it was very high. Then all the stained parts of the dresser were sealed with polyurethane.
Brand new knobs were purchased at Hobby Lobby at 50% off.
The inside of the drawers were painted in an olive green color that I had on hand. When I bought the dresser it didn’t have a bottom to one of the drawers so a new piece of luan was bought at Lowe’s and cut to fit the drawer.
Here’s the new look. What do you all think?
Most of the supplies I had on hand to refinish this beauty, but I did have to purchase knobs ($18), luan ($6) and I didn’t have to but I bought a new stencil ($1.18-discounted due to a big gash from a box knife) plus the dresser ($5) which brought my total to an approximate $31!! Not too shabby!!
I would love it if you shared this dresser makeover!! Thanks!!
