How to Stencil and Stain a Side Table

In this post I’ll be sharing How to Stencil and Stain a Side Table.

This table is a part of a set of nesting tables.

My mother-in-law bought them at a garage sale, $7 for the pair.

I remember she was so proud of them, and the price she paid!

I refinished them for her many years ago.

When she passed away they were given to our family.

The tables have since been in need of a new finish, what with moving a few times with them, along with the usual wear a piece of furniture takes on.

I decided to refinish one at the moment.

This table is incredibly solid! I started the refinishing process by sanding the top.

I then, stenciled a lovely flower design on the bare wood.  I used an off white, satin finish latex paint.

The table was stained with espresso colored stain.

When the stain was dry, I applied a couple coats of polyurethane, sanding between the application process of the polyurethane.

I love the sweet touch adding this stenciled embellishment gives!  What do you think?  Have you thought about refinishing a piece of your furniture?

Thanks for sharing How to Stencil and Stain a Side Table!!
