In this post I’ll be sharing How to Repurpose Glass Shades into a Desk Organizer.
As you can tell from the picture I bought these vintage glass shades at a garage sale for 50 cents a piece.
I liked the shape and design and knew I wanted to do something with them, and how could I pass up 50 cents?!
How to Repurpose Glass Shades into a Desk Organizer
I thought these shades would make great organizers when coupled with a board.
I painted the glass shades with a white chalky paint, and I ended up distressing the shades with some sandpaper too.
I had this piece of cedar 1x that I had recently stenciled and sealed with polyurethane, and was going to use as wall décor, but instead it would act as the base for this organizer.
I marked holes, and took a Forstner bit and drilled holes deep enough to where the glass shades could sit comfortably in the board.Â
He didn’t drill all the way through the board, so each shade has a bottom to the glass now.
I didn’t want to glue them in place or anything, so I could easily lift them to dust and clean.
This trio of dishes will sit on my work table in my craft room.
What do you think of this project? What do you use to organize your craft supplies?
I love it! Now I’m going to be looking for some of the so I can do the same
Great to hear, Christina! Can’t wait to see what you create. :)
