How to Organize Stencils the Cheap and Easy Way

Since buying a Cricut cutting machine my stencil collection has multiplied exponentially.  I wanted to find a way on How to Organize Stencils the Cheap and Easy Way.

I started out storing all of the new stencils in a pile divided by paper.

Trying to find a stencil became difficult having to look through the stack of papers and stencils to find the one I was looking for.

I remembered seeing a post by Donna at Funky Junk Interiors on how she organized her stencils and I thought it was very clever.

I wanted to do something similar with modifications.

I added my new favorite tool, clothespins, to the hanger idea to store stencils.

A clothespin is simply put on a wire hanger where the little hole is, attaching it to the hanger leaving the clamp part free to grab the stencil.

The stencil is then clamped on, easy peasy!

With this method I can easily hang 3-5 stencils on just one hanger.

The stencils are very carefully overlapped when clipped on, so they do not get tangled in each other.

Clothespins are super cheap to buy and are so versatile.

A bag of 50 clothespins is around $1 at Walmart.

Metal hangers like these are anywhere from cheap to free.

I hang the stencils up in the closet that is in my craft room, which used to be an old bedroom.

I also make sure to give some space between the hangers just so the clothespins are less likely to get hung up on another hanger.
