I bought a toolbox this past spring at a garage sale for $4, with the intention of repurposing it. In this post I’ll be sharing How to Repurpose a Toolbox using Paint and Jeans.
Its time has finally come to be cleaned up and repurposed.
First I spray painted the inside of the box with white spray paint.
Then I spray painted the outside black, and decided it was too dark, so I brush painted it white.
Then I decided I really wanted to add color, so I stenciled a few yellow flowers and that just wasn’t doing it either.
I took the yellow paint and coated the box to see if that was going to do it, and nope.
I finally got some blue paint out and tried that color and it hasn’t changed since.
The outside was how I wanted it to look, but the inside still needed work.
I decided to line it with the leftover jeans I had from the bench makeover.
I cut the jean parts and hot glued them inside the box.
I’ve actually tried putting tools into the pockets, but the hot glue wasn’t strong enough to hold up to the weight.
I think I’ll try the E6000 glue that I’ve seen other bloggers using, to see if that will do the trick.
For now, I just lay my tools in the bottom of the box and it works great!
Do these jeans make my tool box look big? hahaha
I had leftover lining from a coat that I used to line the bottom of the box, so as not to scratch the newly refinished hardwood floors.
So what do you think of this toolbox makeover? Do you have a toolbox for your crafting and DIY projects? What storage system do you use?
