Time to ready our supplies! A fantastic thing about how to make a string bracelet with beads is the fact that there aren’t many tools needed; we love that!
- Embroidery floss/crafting string
- Tape
- Beads
- Scissors

Step 1: Get Your String Ready to Go
Kicking off this easy and relaxing DIY on how to make a string bracelet with beads, we’ll need to get our string ready to go.
1.Choose 3 String Colors
Right out of the gate, you’ll get to make the creativity pop by choosing your own colors! Pick two string colors that will look nice wrapped around one another, and a third that you would like to see on the end ties of the bracelet, as one of the string colors will not be very visible.
2. Measure, Cut, and Knot your String
Each color of the string you choose should be cut out a little greater than 12 inches; it’s better to cut off more string than too little!
Once you have all 3 measured and cut, gather them up and tie a knot at the top. Be sure to leave a few inches of string past the knot! This will be your way of tieing the bracelet on.

3. Tape Down your String
On a hard surface, such as a table or clipboard, tape down the string just above the knot and secure it.
Fan your pieces of string out and choose which one will be your “core string,” which is the middle string that holds the bracelet and beads in place. This string’s color will not be visible.
Step 2: Begin String Bracelet Pattern

1.Put your Left String in a 4 Position

4. Gently Pull the Strings
Pull strings out, not too rough, as the string then slides up to the top knot. You’ll get the hang of this quickly!
5. Twisted Strings = Switch Sides
In this technique, the strings are essentially twisting with each new “knot”. When strings begin to twist, have them trade sides, and then continue on until they need to switch again!
Step 3: Add on Beads
The fun part we’ve been dying to get to; adding on the beads! Get as crazy as you’d like with your beads, there are so many fun possibilities!
The only thing to keep in mind when choosing your beads is to make sure the bead’s hole is big enough for you to fit your chosen string through. That would be quite a bummer!
1.Order your Beads
No, no, we don’t mean order them around; play nice! But we do mean that you should put your beads in the order you want them on the bracelet. This way, everything is planned out, and you can get straight to it!
2. Take tape off the Core String
Carefully take your tape off of the Core String and set it aside (or tear a new piece afterward).
3. Take the end of the Core String and slide the bead on
If you’re having trouble getting your string through the bead, try either using a small needle to feed it through the hole or wetting the end of the string and then pushing it through. Both are quite effective!
4. Slide the Bead Up
This bead is moving up in the world! Or, at least up to the top of your bracelet. Once the bead us reached the top, secure tape back onto the Core String.
5. Keep on Going!
The first “knot” you make after you place the bead on will look like the string is wrapping around the bead, which is what we want! After you’ve done that, carry on as you were before.
Step 4: Continue Technique Until Desired Length (Finish!)

1.Finish & Measure
Continue doing the technique until reach your desired length; for this bracelet, we spread out the 3 beads we choose evenly, but you may decide to do something different with your bracelet; it’s totally up to you!
Before you decide you’re finished, measure your bracelet with your wrist to ensure it will fit well.
2. Knot off the End
Once you’ve reached the desired length, you may knot it off!
3. Cut Leftover String
Next, you may cut off the leftover string on the end, but leave enough to lie the bracelet with the other end!
Or, if you’re using some sort of clasp on the ends of your bracelet, here are the instructions!
1.Pick a String
Choose one string on the end of each bracelet to use and cut off the others. If your clasp’s eye is large enough, you can keep more than one string.
2. Tie String to Clasp
The next step is to securely tie the clasp onto the ends of the string you chose. If you’re able to double-knot it, we’d totally recommend that! You can never be too secure with bracelets, right?
