Trash to Treasure: The Beauty of Repurposing
There’s more than one type of beauty that can be found in turning trash into treasure. And one of those beauties is knowing you’re trying to bring an item a different life and purpose rather than it ceasing and sitting in the landfill.
According to Trashcans Unlimited, the US accumulates around 146.1 million tons of waste annually in landfills. That number is pretty unfathomable and freaky!
It seems a little daunting to take on a number like that alone, but if we all do our part, we can see a difference in our neighborhood, then our community, and so on and further out.
Along with finding a new use for items that would typically be thrown away, you can also start or contribute to your own/local composite to help keep food waste (24%) out of landfills as well.
Another way you can do your handy dandy part is to ensure you follow your local recycling rules of what’s taken for recycling and what’s not.
The other beauty of repurposing is the creativity of finding a new purpose for an old item! It’s fun to brainstorm and satisfying to pull it off. So, with that, let’s get to repurposing this trash to treasure!
In my lifetime, I want to see humanity start being conscious of our waste, the things we buy, and how we can reuse and recycle things. I want people to live harmoniously with our planet. I hope everybody wakes up and appreciates life.
