I’ve been trying to work through my repurposing stash lately, while simultaneously, decorate my craft room, so this project hits both of those categories, win-win. In this post I’ll be sharing How to Make Initial Wall Art Using Repurposed Tile.
I’ve had this cabinet door in my craft room for a few weeks, with the wood filler over the knob hole. I thought it was going to be used on another project, but instead it’s been a place on which I paint other projects. I have a huge pile of little tiles that came from our entryway that I’ve been trying to incorporate into as many projects as I can lately, so I thought I would use the tile pieces on this project. If you want you can see how I made a checkerboard and some magnets with the tiles.
I had an idea of how I wanted to use the tiles, so I laid them out first to see if this idea would even work, and yep, it did. Yay, love when that happens! The tiles were going to be used to make initial wall art.
The next thing I did was take all the tile off, and sand the cabinet door, and paint it with white satin latex paint. When the cabinet door was dry, I distressed it with sandpaper to give it more visual interest. Then I painted the tiles with red satin latex paint. After the paint was dry I stenciled the tiles with my crazy flower. Before attaching the tiles onto the cabinet door, a frame hanger was secured to the back. I, then, attached the tile onto the cabinet door using my hot glue gun, to make the intial K.
What do you think? Do you have any initial wall art in your home? Would you ever consider using tile to make wall art?

Love this Keri. You were able to take what looks like junk and turn it into such a cute piece of wall art. I especially like the cool tile in the center that forms the K. Nice bright colors too!
