This past spring I went to a yard sale and bought this vintage wall art for $1. I was mostly interested in just the flower piece, but the birds were included in the price, so I got those too. In this post I’ll be sharing How to Update Vintage Wall Art.
I decided to paint these. I used chalky paint and put one base coat on this set of wall art. Then I painted more coats with various colors on the flowers and birds using both latex and acrylic paint. The pieces were distressed with sandpaper to give it more visual interest.
I have orange as an accent in my living room, so the flowers on this piece were highlighted with a burnt orange to coordinate.
Here’s how I have the flower swag displayed. I bought these amazing paintings by Kayann Ausherman at From Victory Road several months ago. I put a frame around the paintings, and hung the flowers next to it. What do you think of this wall display?
The birds were painted with a mustard yellow and bits of red. They go on either side of the window in the dining area, giving the room a bit of color that I was looking for. What do you think of this easy repurpose? Sometimes all that is needed is a little paint. 😉
