I’ll be showing you How to Make Wood Slice Reindeer Ornaments. These are easy ornaments to make and super cute too!! The supplies are pretty simple and easy to find. The process is fairly quick as well, it probably took about an hour or two to make these from start to finish and that includes drying time for the paint and glue.
-Paint (acrylic or latex)
-Hot glue gun
-Red thread or string of some sort to hang the ornaments
First I painted the wood slices brown. When the paint was dry I painted 2 black dots and 1 red dot for the reindeer’s face using the tip of a small acrylic paint brush handle.
While I was waiting for the paint to dry, my kiddos and I went out to the yard to pick up tiny sticks. I chose to use sticks that naturally had the “y” look to them to use as the antlers. I then hot glued them to the back of the wood slices. Be careful with the hot glue gun and follow the manufacturer’s instructions when using. My friend Katrin from KreativK has also made a deer using twigs and scrapbook paper; it’s so cool, you should definitely check it out!!
I drilled holes in the top of the wood slice so that I could get red thread through to make a loop. The thread was actually just embroidery floss and was tied using a double knot.
I ended up making 4 of these little guys. Aren’t they cute?! They look adorable hanging on the Christmas tree. Let me know if you end up making some and how you like them.
