Repurposing Wood Scraps into Beautiful Signs-Day 18 of Thankful for Repurposing

I’ve given you all a sneak peek of these signs in this post, and mentioned I had more to show, well here it is. 😉 For the past few months I’ve been turning pieces of scrap wood into signs. I especially like using 1x boards.
I sand the boards starting with a low grit, and work my way up to a high grit until the boards are incredibly smooth. Then I paint the boards with a few coats of latex paint. A design is stenciled on the board, and then using high grit sandpaper I go over the entire piece to smooth the surface again. I use finishing wax to seal the signs.
I’ve got a lot of these signs made, so I’m thinking these will make nice Christmas gifts, what do you think? Do you like to make signs using leftover lumber? If you like this project, you should check out how my friend, Pili from Sweet Things, made string art on a piece of wood, so awesome!
