Repurposed Frame into Chalkboard-Day 13 of Thankful for Repurposing
I bought this frame at a garage sale for a dollar a few summers ago. It actually had a golf picture in it, and the picture had moisture damage to it, but I was interested in the frame, so no worries about the moisture to the picture. I finally decided it was time to use this frame to make a chalkboard. I sanded and painted the frame.
My husband measured and cut a piece out of this old crib bottom, so that it could be inserted into the frame. Before I stapled it into the frame I painted it with chalkboard paint using this recipe, and cured it by rubbing a piece of chalk all over the surface.
Here it is put together.
The frame was distressed using sandpaper.
I actually used a stencil to write on the chalkboard, then I traced over the chalk using my finger. It’s not the best, but definitely better than my handwriting, lol.
This chalkboard will hang in the garage for my daughters to draw on when they’re hanging out with Daddy. Do you have a repurposed chalkboard in your home? Is it used often? Wanna see another chalkboard project? See how my friend Mary from The Boondocks Blog turned boards into chalkboards for any season.
Thanks for sharing this project!
