School Supply Organizer
Hi! I’m so glad you could join us for another month of Int’l Bloggers Club! This month we’re coming together with some “Back to School” ideas! If you missed last month we talked about summer time activities and the month before we did a few summer themed projects.
Here in America school is back in session. Most kids attend school in the U.S. from kindergarten through the 12th grade, usually split into 3 main levels, elementary school, middle school, and high school. I’m planning to home school my kiddos, and my oldest is now at the age where we’re going to start using preschool curriculum, and getting prepped for kindergarten.
I wanted to create an organizer for school supplies that can be moved around easily. I bought this rack a few weeks ago at Goodwill for $4 and thought it would make a great school supply organizer. My friend Mary from The Boondocks Blog ,and I researched, and we think that this is a beer bottle rack, but if you know for sure what this is please let me know otherwise. The openings are only 2 inches wide and it is only 5 inches high.
I painted this and it didn’t look so great, so I distressed it with sandpaper to cover my bad painting tracks, lol.
I wanted to put my daughter’s school supplies in the holes and not have them fall over, so the holes needed to be more contained. I chose to fill the holes with cardstock. A piece of cardstock was rolled up, and put into the hole. I made a cut to mark where I needed to cut the cardstock. I took the rolled cardstock out of the hole, folded it where I made the cut, and cut the cardstock along the fold. It was then rolled up and put it back in the hole. I used the first cardstock roll as a template to make the rest of the holders.
The last thing to do was fill the holes with the new school supplies for my new student. Doesn’t it look so organized and pretty? I wonder how long it will stay like this?
Do you have an organization system for the school supplies at home? I hope this inspires you to creatively repurpose.
Have a wonderful day!!
