Good Monday to you all! I hope you had a fantastic weekend! The past few weeks I’ve been focusing on furniture projects, but today I thought I would take a break and just show you all a smaller project I did recently.
My father-in-law had some old wood he didn’t want anymore, and of course I asked him if I could have it. Part of the wood that was being gotten rid of was 3.5″ x 3.5″ block of wood. I saw a coaster project from Donna at Funky Junk Interiors a while back and thought I might do something similar using the block of wood. I used a miter saw to cut several slices out of the chunk of wood to make some coasters.
I sanded the slices a little just to get rid of the burs and some of the roughness, then stained them, front, back and sides, with Minwax Espresso stain. After I stained them I used some white paint and stenciled some different designs and lettering on them using a collaboration of stencils I have on hand (Alphabet stencil , the birds , the big and medium size flowers, little flowers on the hope coaster.) Lastly, the coasters were sealed with a couple of coats of polyurethane.
I really like how they turned out how about you? If you like these coasters from reclaimed wood, I would love for you to share it! 🙂 Thanks so much!!
