Shopping in America-Int’l Bloggers Club
It’s time for another installation of Int’l Bloggers Club!! This month our topic is shopping, and I decided to focus on where I shop here in America.
With a house remodel underway, Lowe’s has become a home away from home. I feel as if we’re always there picking up one thing or another. And of course, even if I don’t need it, I always check the oopsy paint for any deals. Lowe’s also gives veteran discounts for any of you veterans out there.
The other store I frequent is HyVee. This is where I buy groceries. I like their produce and they have some awesome deals on food, plus they offer fuel points! No, they’re not paying me to say this, but maybe they should be! 😉 Or maybe a month of free groceries. Lol
My favorite place by far to go shopping here in America is at garage sales. This past weekend was my first garage sale pickin’ of the season, and let me tell you, I couldn’t wait to get out there and get some bargains! My heart skips a beat when I see these beautiful signs!!
The first garage sale I hit I bought this awesome tool box for $4!! I bought it mostly for the box, and the fact that it had some tools in it was an added bonus.
When my husband got home, he inspected the contents and found a carbide bit that usually runs around $50!! He was able to take it to work and use it. There were some other good tools in there, but that bit alone made the $4 a fantastic investment. I also picked up a pile of linens at this same sale for $1, that is in the next picture with the suitcases.
At the second garage sale, I came away with some awesome deals. The green suitcase was 50 cents, the blue suitcase $1, the basket 25 cents, and that lovely lamp $5. I was hoping to find a lamp for my kiddos’ room at a garage sale, I just didn’t expect to find one so soon.
I actually went back to a garage sale a second time just to pick up this pile of goodies. I carried this bunch away for a little under $4. I’ve already started repurposing some of these cuties.
Another garage sale produced a box of frames, 25 cents a piece for a total of $1.75. The glass shades I actually bought at a different sale for 25 cents a piece. I’m thinking these will make some more cute Angels from Repurposed Materials.
This record/radio cabinet I picked up for $7, it was originally $10!! I was on the lookout for a vintage stereo and record player, so I jumped when I saw this one and at such a great price too!
The radio works for sure, but I still have yet to test the record player, it spins just not sure how it sounds. Oh I’m also on the lookout for records this garage sale season. 😉 I plan on refinishing this cabinet, and placing it in the living room.
It wasn’t until I was putting this post together that I realized I forgot two of my favorite stores, Hobby Lobby and Michael’s. Anyway, I hope you’ve enjoyed where I shop here in America, as well as seeing some of my new treasures. Now head on over to Greece and Spain to go shopping with Mary, Pili, and Katrin.
