Stenciled “Farm Fresh Milk” Cow Table
I bought this table at a garage sale a few weeks ago. I got a great deal on it!! It wasn’t anything fancy but it was solid wood and in good shape. Whoever painted it before me did an excellent job.
There were dents, scratches, stains, and gouges where it looked like someone had purposely carved into this table. I first sanded it down and then painted it to better separate stains from gouges and other areas I might need to fill in. I filled in all the holes and sanded it down again and repeated that process until I was satisfied with the surface. I left the dents and ding marks to give it a rustic feel.
Now onto the painting. I chose to flip it over and just focus on the legs and skirt of the table first. I only had to apply two coats of paint. I then flipped it over and gave the tabletop a light sanding with 220 and gave it two coats of paint. Shortly after purchasing this table I knew it needed to be stenciled with a cow and a “farm fresh milk” label.
I went to work measuring and stenciling on the tabletop until I came up with this.
I then decided it needed a little more detail, so I added a checkered design with another stencil along the skirt of the table.
I think the stencils definitely added some extra to this ordinary table.
What do you think of the new look to this table?
