I’ve mentioned in previous posts I have a thing for frames. I can pick them up at garage sales for 25-50 cents and I do about every chance I get. In fact a few weeks ago I bought a box filled with a ton of frames-41 to be exact. There were a lot of 5″x7″ frames, which I was getting low on and would need for this particular project. I only paid $5 for the whole kit-n-caboodle!!
I wanted to use some of these frames to hang on the wall above the kitchen cabinets. Now I didn’t use all 41, just 24 of them. The others will go into my frame pile until I get around to using them. I sanded and painted all 24 frames. I measured and marked the frames to hang about 7 inches apart.
I mixed up some paint I had to get a light gray color but I’m not sure how well I like it now. I wanted the frames to stand out, but I think maybe painting them the same color I used on the cabinets will be better. Just having the frames above the cabinets makes them stand out enough. I’ll give it a few more weeks before I decide if I want to change the color of the frames.
I tried to choose frames that were different to add some character. There were two frames in the box that had sunflowers and bees on them and I almost put them in my give away pile. I painted one just to see what it would look like and I loved the outcome, so they both found a place above the kitchen cabinets! Those two sunflower and bee frames are actually my favorite now!
As you can see they’re just empty frames. I’m keeping the glass and backing from the frames just in case I change things up. This is just another snippet of things that are cooking in the kitchen. The bigger project is actually on the floor; my husband is laying tile in the dining area and soon in the kitchen.
Thanks for checking out this post!!
